About Us

The Grange Farm Foundation has been set up to further develop the successful grants-giving scheme, that the Grange Farm Centre Trust (Registered Charity No. 285162) set up in 2005.

All actions and decisions of The Grange Farm Foundation are overseen by the Trustees.

The Charity is based at the Grange Farm Centre, Chigwell, Essex and has the following objectives:

‘’to provide or to assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and leisure time occupation for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of benefit (i.e. the Metropolitan Police District and such part of the District of Epping Forest in the County of Essex as is not included in the said Police District) in particular and the public generally with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants”

In 1935, Donald Allen (later Sir Donald Allen) Clerk to the City Parochial Foundation and responsible for the original setting up of Grange Farm, strongly believed in fresh air, sport and exercise for all communities.   This passion continues today within the vision and goals of the Charity.

The main way we meet our objectives is through the Grange Farm Centre.  This is a 90-acre site that provides top classes facilities for the community, with moderate or no fee to use them.

The strong financial platform that the Charity has developed over the years allows for surplus funds to be donated to organisations and charities within its area of benefit.  This allows us to impact communities that may not be able to visit and enjoy the Chigwell site.

The grants that we award are usually up to £10,000 and mainly fund capital projects to benefit local communities

Since 2005, we have donated approximately £1.5 million in grants to a range of organisations across London and Epping.
